We respect your privacy and are committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, how we keep it secure, and how you can access or correct it. It applies to our website at skyscale.com.au, our marketing communications, and the services we provide to clients.
1. What personal information we collect
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to run our business and provide our services. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
- Contact details – your name, email address, phone number, business name and website address, when you submit an enquiry, request an AI visibility audit, book a call or subscribe to updates.
- Business information – details about your business, target market, services, competitors and current marketing that you share with us so that we can scope or deliver work.
- Account and platform access – where you engage us, you may grant us access to tools such as Google Business Profile, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, your website CMS or advertising accounts. We only use this access to perform the agreed work.
- Billing information – billing contact and business details needed to issue invoices. Card payments, where offered, are processed by a third-party payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
- Communications – emails, messages, meeting notes and call recordings (where you have been told a call is being recorded).
- Website and device data – IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referring URL, approximate location and interaction data collected through cookies and analytics tools (see section 6).
You do not have to provide personal information to browse our website. If you choose not to provide information we request, we may not be able to respond to your enquiry or provide our services.
2. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you when you fill in a form on our website, email or call us, book a meeting, connect with us on social media, or work with us as a client. We may also collect publicly available information about your business (for example from your website, Google Business Profile or public directories) when preparing an audit or proposal you have requested, and we receive technical data automatically when you use our website.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiries and provide the audits, proposals and services you request;
- plan, deliver, measure and report on our marketing and optimisation work for you;
- manage our client relationship with you, including invoicing and account administration;
- send you information about our services, insights and offers where you have opted in or would reasonably expect to hear from us (you can unsubscribe at any time);
- improve our website, content and services, including by analysing how visitors use our site;
- comply with our legal obligations and protect our legal rights.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use client data to train AI models.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only where necessary to run our business and provide our services, with:
- Service providers who host our website and data or help us operate – for example website hosting (Vercel), form handling (Formspree), email and productivity tools (Google Workspace), analytics (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity), tag management (Google Tag Manager), scheduling, invoicing and project-management software.
- Platforms we use to deliver your work, such as Google, Meta and AI search platforms, where you have engaged us and the work requires it.
- Contractors and team members who work with us under confidentiality obligations.
- Professional advisers such as accountants, lawyers and insurers.
- Government or regulatory bodies where required by law.
Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. Where we disclose personal information overseas we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
5. How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include using reputable providers with encryption in transit, restricting access to people who need it, using two-factor authentication on our accounts, and deleting or de-identifying information when it is no longer needed. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
6. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use the site and to improve it. We use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity (loaded via Google Tag Manager) to collect aggregated usage data such as pages viewed, time on page, device and browser type, and anonymised interaction recordings. This data is not used to identify you personally.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Disabling cookies may affect some features of the website.
7. Marketing communications
If you have enquired with us or worked with us, we may send you emails about our services and insights. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also opt out at any time by emailing contact@skyscale.com.au. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
8. Links to other websites
Our website and content may link to third-party websites and platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites and encourage you to read their privacy policies.
9. Retention
We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purposes described above, to meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations (generally seven years for financial records), or to resolve disputes. After that it is securely deleted or de-identified.
10. Accessing and correcting your information
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing contact@skyscale.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time (usually 30 days). We may need to verify your identity before releasing information, and in limited circumstances permitted by law we may decline a request – if so, we will tell you why.
11. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below and we will investigate and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
